I honest got my copy today, and attach it in after watching the Blu Ray of Forrest Gump. Trust me. You’ve never seen A Christmas Carol until you witness this modern Blu Ray. I was petrified and beside myself at how well this novel restoration turned out. The detail is unreal, especially for a film that has always looked so awful. It’s not flawless mind you, with the ocassional sever and scratch, but overall this is a fair transfer and worth every penny for an upgrade. The sound is quite nice as well. I purchase the novel mono to the 5.1 track. Very determined and state free.
The most principal Christmas film ever made. Certainly the truest and most emotionally stirring adaptation of Dickens’ classic to this day, and most certainly to reach. How do I know this? Well, in the words of Little Tim, “I unprejudiced reflect it”. The outmoded condition of the film and the fact that it was shot in dusky and white lend a clear authenticity to it, as if it were actually filmed in the story’s time period. Alastair Sim was born to play Scrooge. Even some of the finest actors can’t (and won’t) ever near the level he status. He was the “model Scrooge”. Sim was as equally convincing as a heartless miser as he was a man enlightened, redeemed and reborn. Other resplendent actors could play one or the other but not both, at least, not convincingly. Sim is also supported by a very strong cast and crew. This classic version has Heart; It has Spirit like no other; It has believability; It has purpose. Impartial the notice of a bad puny boy (Diminutive Tim) peering through a toy shop window and managing a smile even though he knows he’ll never have any of the toys he sees will be indelibly etched into your conscience. The music during that scene will discontinue with you for many seasons to reach. Somebody did a commendable job restoring this love. Even the standard DVD (also restored and included) looks and sounds far better than any prior home video release, but it’s mild not perfect. Nevertheless, vast strides in its restoration were made and I highly recommend it. But as far as the memoir goes, peruse it alone the first time, without interruption, and if you secure yourself touched and perhaps rubbing a waddle from your perceive at the ruin when you hear the words, “Can you forgive a pig-headed frail fool…”, ahhh, you’re there. Merry Christmas, “in keepin’ with the status”.

SCROOGE has been a guilty pleasure of mine for many years. As a kid (before cable came along) I hoped that one of the local stations would play the film around Christmas time. I probably haven’t seen SCROOGE since I was 11 or 12 years customary.
The newly released DVD looks unbelievable. The film is 33 years dilapidated, and its production accomplish and colors are rendered well on the DVD. The overture is included.

- Alec Guinness is a genius! As Marley’s ghost, Guiness has some very droll moments. See his performance closely: Guiness achieves “ghostliness” without the serve of digital effects. Explore him “float” parts of his body, especially his hands when he sits down. The wobble, the issue, the “floating”. Simply knowing.
- There are several very first-rate songs. My favorites: “I Like Life”, “Thank You Very Distinguished”, and “Happiness”.

- I actually like the flashbacks when Scrooge is young and in savor. Very touching. And aesthetic.
- They really edited this film for TV! There’s scenes in SCROOGE that I’ve *never* seen before; specifically, the scene in hell at the demolish. Humorous!
So, even though SCROOGE brought Christmas into my house in September, it was a welcomed, early celebration.
While this version of the classic Dickens’ legend did not receive famous acclaim, it remains one of my favorites and richly deserves this DVD release.

Albert Finney is magical in his portrayal of Scrooge, transforming his physical appearance through the art of makeup and glorious acting from a robust youth to an customary man during the course of the anecdote.
The supporting cast is also distinguished, and the songs add flavor to the overall atmosphere of Dickens’ era London, as well as gigantic and unexpected depth to the core theme of the story: the precarious reclamation of a person’s soul.
Dickens’ radiant fable manages to mutter religious themes without preaching, and provides an accessible character in Scrooge that we can understand, root for, and ultimately, rejoice with and learn from when his heart is turned outward to his fellow man.
Vastly animated and remarkably new, this life-affirming version of “A Christmas Carol,” along with many of its songs, will end with viewers long after the final credits have rolled. For me, “Scrooge” has become a treasured Christmas tradition alongside so many other beloved yule time favorites. I applaud its long overdue DVD release!
